Public speaking
Speaking in public is often rated as
being scarier than wild dogs, spiders or death. A half or full day course will build confidence and show you how to stand out from the crowd.
"The session was really fun which completely took away the ‘daunting’ conception of public speaking – I’m really looking forward to putting things into practice!"
Speaking in public is something everyone can learn with practice.
I will pass on the secrets to success I have learnt over 25 years speaking to small groups and audiences of thousands.
Talk to me about:
-
understanding your audience
-
adapting your talk for different ages and audience numbers
-
directing attention
-
using stories and storytelling to make impact
-
using your body language to communicate
"Public speaking, as he said, can be very intimidating. However, I found it useful and engaging to have a sort of seminar, i.e., variation between lecture format and interacting with people. The tips he gave us are definitely something I will take with me and can tell others about. I have a talk coming up at the beginning of March, so now I can rest assured that it will be less boring"
"This was a fantastic way to meet other researchers beyond my own department. James (course leader) was excellent, very approachable and boosted my own confidence in presenting. "
